Favorite Recipes

From the beginning of time we have been blessed with a precious gift from God.. namely.. food.  Most people read Genesis and see  fields of grass, trees and flowers but the culinary expert sees so much more-  fields of wonderful ingredients, each with different flavor, color and texture.  Many of these same ingredients even possess healing properties. Many foods are associated with the feeling of comfort.  The vastness of ingredients available and the limitless possibilities of ways to prepare them are all easily understood and perceived.

What is not so easily perceived is the true gift from the creator of all things- the gift of his Love.   God’s love for his creation has always been.  It is his essence- his main ingredient if you will.  Over the course of time he has brought it “to the table” for all to see.  Recipes of light shining, seas parting, solid ground appearing, a tree branch reaching, an eagle soaring, a load bearing donkey, a gardener tending … so many recipes.   But one “recipe” stood out above all the others.  The recipe of Jesus.  No other even compares.   The love of God has never been so beautifully presented.

So in honor of our favorite recipe, Jesus… we invite you to share your favorite food recipes so that we can share the love of God with others as we taste the goodness of his creations!

I believe that passages in the bible should not be looked at as simply a sentence written in a book.  No, a passage in the bible is truly a passage.  A passage is like a beautiful bridge making a way for me over troubled waters.  It is a means of passing from one place in your life to the next.

Lydia once shared with me that her favorite passage in the bible is 2 Corinthians 12:7-10.  Here she finds her passage from weakness into Christ’s strength.  It is a precious passage to her that she found hidden in God’s word. .. her most favorite bridge that she has crossed on the journey of her faith.  How awesome that even more beautiful bridges lie ahead on each of our paths… waiting to be found in the word of God.

So what beautiful bridge have you recently crossed?

A man is stranded on an island for several years.

When rescuers finally come, he takes them on a tour before they leave.
“That building is where I slept. That building is where I ate and that one is where I went to church.” the man said.
“What is that building for?” they asked.
“Oh, that’s where I USED to go to church.” he sneered.

Reflection by Charity A. Gutierrez:

I know there have been times I visited a church and not wanted to return because of some misunderstanding.  I left offended by another person’s gaze or angered at the convicting message being brought forth.  I pointed the finger and blamed the members.  I pointed the finger and blamed the priest.  Truly the only person I should have pointed the finger at is myself.  Instead of seeking guidance I isolated my feelings to myself.  I built my own church in my own mind based on my own misunderstandings.  I became like a person on a deserted island.  I needed the help of strong, loving Christian friends to help guide me to truth.  At the time I had none.  What a blessing it is to have a godly husband and godly friends.  Still today there are times I start feeling like a deserted island in my thoughts.  I have learned to open up to my husband and trusted close friends when I feel that way.   It is when I ask for guidance in my thinking that I can be rescued from my deserted island… leaving my old “church” behind with a smile.

Can you relate?

Idle Words

Something on the video on wednesday really hit home for me. When john bevere (however you spell that) read the verse about being judged on your IDLE WORDS! wow. that almost made me cry. I mean….what classifies has idle words? because it almost seems impossible NOT to have SOME idle words. you know? So that defintly, DEFINTLY got me thinking!

Seeing the Invisible

We are inviting you to join us in one of God’s most amazing games.  The game…  “Match a Verse”.  When something you see in nature reminds you of a specific scripture you must stop and take a picture of what ever it is you see.  (For all you cell-phone holders this is not hard to do).  Then when you are home email your picture and your scripture to us so that we can add it to our picture gallery.

Need a “Clue Card”- if you see something that moves you but you cannot think of a verse… snap a picture of it and later when you are online go to biblegateway.com or another concordance website and enter what you see as a keyword.   You will find that what you see will teach you about what you cannot.

Email us your matches.  The game never ends!!

Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
